Bearings narrates the places you pass as you walk or drive. If something isn't working, or you just want to tell us what you heard, we read every message.
Email trevor@mcglaflinlabs.com. We aim to reply within two business days. Telling us the rough time and place of the walk helps a lot — it's usually enough to find exactly what you heard.
You can also report a specific story from inside the app: press and hold it in the feed. That sends us the story along with the context that produced it, which is far more useful than a description of it.
Bearings needs the Always location permission to keep narrating with the phone locked or in a pocket, which is the whole point of it. If location is set to "While Using the App", narration goes quiet the moment the screen turns off. Change it in your phone's Settings under Bearings › Location.
Subscriptions are billed by Apple, and Apple requires them to be cancelled in your Apple Account settings rather than inside the app. Open Settings on your phone, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, then Bearings. There's a shortcut to the same place on the plan screen in the app: Profile › Manage Plan.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
Open Profile › Manage Plan and tap Restore Purchases. Your plan follows the Bearings account you sign in with, not the device, so signing in on a new phone brings it with you.
If it still doesn't appear, email us with the date of the purchase and we'll sort it out.
Stories are generated by AI from public sources, and they can be wrong. Please report them — press and hold the story in the feed. Reported stories stop being played back to you, and they're the main way we find and fix bad content.
Don't rely on narration for directions, safety, or decisions about whether a place is open or accessible. Bearings is not a navigation app.
You can delete your account and everything associated with it from inside the app: Profile › Delete Account. It's immediate and needs no email to us.
